Why an Empire Construction Roof with so many other roofing companies out there!

First and foremost is that Empire Construction actually cares about our clients. We are not here only in the event of a storm but we all live here in the State of Alabama and are your neighbors. All the companies out there use asphalt shingles and most use good quality shingles ie: GAF/ELK Owens Corning to name a couple but that is where the similarity stops and Empire Construction begins.

What we do for you and your home

- During the tear off and reroofing process our in house installers carefully cover all your landscape and hardscape surrounding your home being aware of outdoor temperature and the damage and plant stress that can occur from the overheating of covered plant material. Where necessary we have an in house certified nurserymen to advise.

- After the old shingles, boots etc. are removed all roof decking and flashing is carefully inspected for rot, mildew, nail pops or any defects that could create later problems for you and your family.  We will repair these areas and bill your insurance not you and do not double dip by taking from both you and your insurance company through what is called supplemental.

- All siding around chimneys and partition walls ie: dormers etc. abutting the roof surface are inspected for rot and decay and repaired as needed. You and your insurance company will always be advised as to cost and we will make every effort to bill insurance if at all possible. In most cases this will already be found during our inspection process.

- Our installers then apply Storm Guard also known as ice and water shield around all openings, skylights and protrusions on the decking, as well as down all valleys prior to roofing felt and the new boots being applied. We also use ice and water shield over all dormer decking surfaces as even further assurance to you.  This is done at no additional cost to you or your insurance company and is an example of just how much we care. Ask your representative to see the product if he/she have not already done so.

- All vents and furnace stacks will be painted to match your shingle selection as closely as possible. Just another Empire Construction touch to show we care about you and the appearance of your home.

- Roofing felt is never with a Empire Construction roof stapled down. All roofing felt is hand nailed using approved felt roofing nails only. Your representative can show you a sample.

- Before the shingles go down our installers properly measure and snap chalk lines to assure straight shingle application and proper ridge alignment. We then apply what is called starter shingles around the perimeter of all decking to further guard against future damage and to give the roof line a properly finished appearance from the ground. Most of the others don't do this or up charge you. Ask your insurance adjuster. They know!

- Prior to us starting with the shingle application all roofing air nailers are calibrated to your roof substrate. We don't assume your neighbors roof has the same hardness or density as yours. This prevents over or under nailing of the shingles and will prevent manufacture warranty issues should you ever need it.

- At Empire Construction we only use a 6 nail pattern for shingle application. The highest rated method for load and wind application in the country. Most all other companies here in Georgia go with a 4 nail pattern and many cut corners from even there. Our application is wind rated at 120 MPH compared to 80 MPH with standard 4 nail application. Anything under 4 nails will void your manufactures warranty and insurance replacement should you ever need it. Simply ask your insurance adjuster or manufacturer

Our installers have been trained and are proficient in what we call a closed California Valley as opposed to an open or cut valley. This you will find on all our architectural shingle applications unless otherwise requested by you our client. Please ask your representative for further details. Just another quality Empire Construction distinction from the others.

- Miscellaneous items we promote include standoffs for our ladders to protect gutters and fascia boards from damage. Our steep roof crews always use ropes and harnesses and not what are referred to as toe boards or 2x4s spiked through your new shingles and roof decking. Ask about our low slope and flat roof applications for pitches under 3/12 such as many porch roofs found here in our State of Georgia.
All of us here at Empire Construction take pride in the work, quality and workmanship we bring to you and it is just one of the reasons we are able to offer our 10 year no leak/wind warranty.
